Prof. Dr. XIA Hanping, male, born in September 1966, a research scientist working at the Field of Environmental Degradation and Ecological Restoration of South China Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He gained the Bachelor Degree at the Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition of Nanjing Agricultural University in 1988; gained the Master's degree and the Doctor degree in Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991 and 1999, respectively.
Since July 1991, Dr. Xia has been working at the Ecological Centre of South  China Botanical Garden; he was promoted to assistant professorship in 1994, and to associate professorship in 1997, and to professorship in 2002. The chief research fields are restoration ecology, phytoremediation for heavy metals, grassland ecology, and ecological engineering.
So far, he has published more than 150 papers, of which over 30 were published by SCI journals. His achievements about Vetiver Grass Technique ever gained 7 international prizes, including the King of Thailand Vetiver Award, and the Prize of Vetiver Campion.
