Academician from the Third World Academy of Sciences Visits SCBG

From Oct 30 to Nov. 8, Prof. Muhammad Ashraf, Academician of the Third World Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences, and professor of Agricultural University (Faisalabad), paid a visit to South China Botanical Garden (SCBG), under the invitation of Prof. JIANG Yueming, the Principal Investigator of Agriculture, Food Quality and Safety, and Phytochemical Resources Research Field of SCBG.

 

During the visit, Dr. Ashraf delivered several lectures titled “Faculty of Sciences, University of Agriculture (Faisalabad)”, “Botanic Gardens of the University of Agriculture (Faisalabad)”, “Propagation and Utilization of Potential Medicinal Plants”, and “Scientific Writings”. He introduced his research team and research progress in detail, and showed the faculty of scientific research and construction for the botanic garden of Agricultural University (Faisalabad). Focus on the problems the graduate students of SCBG met in research, he briefed how to do scientific research and to write scientific papers.

 

During the period, Dr. Ashraf visited some special gardens and Rare and Endangered Plant Breeding Centre of SCBG. He also held several discussions with the research fellows of the Agriculture, Food Quality and Safety, and Phytochemical Resources Research Field. He gave a high appraisal of the achievements SCBG had acquired in the research field of Agriculture, Food Quality and Safety, and Phytochemical Resources in recent years. The two sides exchanged the opinions on the cooperation and academic research, and then put forward the specific suggestions and scheme.

 

This visit not only promoted the academic exchange and cooperation between the two sides, but also enhanced the international influence of SCBG, especially in the research field of the Agriculture, Food Quality and Safety, and Phytochemical Resources.
