CHEN Hongfeng Granted 2010’ Lu Jiaxi Young Talent Award

Recently, Dr. CHEN Hongfeng of South China Botanical Garden (SCBG) was granted the 2010' Lu Jiaxi Young Talent Award by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). This is the first time in the history that SCBG received the award.

CAS Lu Jiaxi Young Talent Award, a special award established by the CAS Wang Kuancheng Education Foundation, is used to reward the young scientific and technical personnel with good potential and high innovation ability as well as prominent performance in technological innovation and industrialization, and to enhance the praise of young talents' innovation performance, thus to encourage them to contribute their youth and wisdom to the development of science and technology.

Starting work at SCBG since July 1997, Dr. Chen has been engaged mainly in plant taxonomy and conservation biology. He took charge of one sub-project of Key Projects in the National Science & Technology Pillar Program in the Eleventh Five-year Plan Period, one project of Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) and two projects of Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province. Chen has authored or co-authored more than 10 monographs and over 40 academic papers, including over 10 ones published in international journals indexed in SCI.
